Light design

Mark Jonathan worked at Glyndebourne Opera from 1978 until 1992 when he became head of lighting at the National Theatre in London until 2003. His extensive lighting credits include operas at Bayerische Staatsoper, Potsdam, Strasbourg, Antwerp, Ghent, Tel Aviv, Spoleto and Scottish Opera. His designs at LA and Washington include productions for William Friedkin, Woody Allen and John Schlesinger. He has lit many ballets at the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Stuttgarter Ballett, Staatsballett Berlin, Toulouse and Japanese National Ballet. His theatre credits extend from the National Theatre and the West End in London, the Royal Shakespeare Company and throughout Britain to New York including Prometheus Bound which received a Drama Desk Nomination for “Outstanding Lighting Design”.
