Streit, KurtKnown throughout his career as one of the world's foremost leading Mozart specialists, Kurt Streit has in recent years taken on a very wide range of repertoire. He continues to sing the Mozart title roles of Idomeneo, Lucio Silla and Tito while expanding his range from Monteverdi to Wagner, Handel to Janacek, Haydn, Pfitzner, Berlioz, Offenbach, and others. Having sung on all the world's major opera and concert stages, Kurt Streit returns after his debut with Nikolaus Harnoncourt ( Mozart: The Abduction of the seraiglio) as Belmonte most often and most gladly to Theater an der Wien where he has sung for many years, appearing most recently as Emilio (Handel: Partenope), Haydns Orlando Paladino, Florestan (Beethoven: Fidelio 1805), as well as all of his Mozart title-roles.
