The Native American studied in his home state Connecticut at Yale School of Music and performed in the Merola Program at San Francisco Opera House. He is internationally renown for his very detailed role-portraits since debuting at Metropolitan Opera in Strawinski’s The Rake's Progress. He furthermore sang amongst others in Britten's Death in Venice, Gounod's Faust, Mozart’s Le nozzle di Figaro, Barber's Antony and Cleopatra or Handel's Rolando. On CD he is documented amongst others in Floyd’s Susannah and in Cavalli’s La Calisto. He lives with his wife Patricia Schuman and both their children in Conneticut. At Theater an der Wien he has already performed as Massenet’s Don Quichotte at the festival KlangBogen in 2002.
