L'incoronazione di Poppea
The Dutch tenor Marcel Beekman is a sought-after interpreter of the baroque, classical and the contemporary concert and opera repertoire. He works regularly with Frans Brüggen, William Christie and Reinbert de Leeuw and sang with Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, ASKO / Schönberg and the orchestra of the 18th century. Calliope Tsoupaki wrote her Lucas-Passion for his voice (Holland Festival 2008), which is available on CD as well. On the opera stage he sang amongst others Casella (Andriessen: La Commedia), Laki Topelevic (Zebeljan: Eine Marathon Familie), Pastore (Monteverdi: L’Orfeo) and Berenice (Cavalli: L’Ipermestra).This season he will sing in Strauss’ Salome and Dallapiccola’s Il Prigioniero at De Nederlandse Opera as well as La Commedia at Los Angeles and at Carnegie Hall.
