L'incoronazione di Poppea
Founded in 1995 by Thomas Hengelbrock, Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble today has internationally an excellent reputation. The press names it one of the leading ensembles of baroque music in Europe and marks on the extraordinary intensity and possibility of musical expression. The repertoire of the ensemble reaches from early baroque music to contemporary music and follows a historical informed performing attitude on adequate instruments. Following the ideal of the architectural stretto of buildings, paintings, sculpture and gardening by the baroque architect Balthasar Neumann the ensemble aspires an intense interplay of Music and other arts. Innovative semi-staged projects, which combine music, recitation, acting and dance in a very open-minded and innovative way, are the result of this open-minded will to experimented examinations, in which the members of the ensemble change their tails for stage costumes.
