L'incoronazione di Poppea
Andrew Watts was born in Middlesex and studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Geoffrey Mitchell. He has performed at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Komische Oper Berlin, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Gran Teatro La Fenice, Sao Carlos Lisbon and Bayerische Staatsoper as well as at festivals at Salzburg, Vienna, Edinburgh, Aldeburgh and Lucerne. His roles range from Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Handel’s Orlando and Ottone (Agrippina), Nerone (Monteverdi: L’incoronazione di Poppea), Prinz Orlofsky (Strauß: Die Fledermaus) Oberon (Britten: A Midsummer Night’s Dream), to world premieres inter alii of Neuwirth’s Lost Highway, Birtwistle’s The Last Supper, Chin's Alice in Wonderland and works by Guarnieri, Nunes, Lim and Manzoni. At Theater an der Wien he performed in 2007 L’Ospite in Sciarrino’s Luci mie traditrici.
