Iphigénie en Tauride
Veronique Gens is one of the leading interpreters of Baroque- and Mozart-roles. Since she performed Donna Elvira (Mozart: Don Giovanni) 1998 in Aix-en-Provence, which she also sang in Glyndebourne, she has worked with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Claudio Abbado and Marc Minkowski. She sang for example in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito in Dresden, Così fan tutte in Tokio, La finta giardiniera in Salzburg as well as Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande in Berlin. Her discography includes more than 70 awarded recordings including Berlioz’ Les nuits d’été, Le nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Scarlatti’s Santissima Trinità, Purcell’s King Arthur as well as Tragédiennes. At last she performed in Cavalli’s La Calisto as well as Alice Ford (Verdi: Falstaff) in Baden-Baden, Eva (Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) in Barcelona, Glucks Alceste in Aix-en-Provence and Iphigénie en Aulide in Bruxelles for example. Her last role at Theater an der Wien was in Glucks´ Iphigénie en Tauride.
