Internationally-acclaimed French baritone Stephane Degout graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon. Since his triumphant debut as Papageno at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, he has appeared at the Opera de Paris (La bohème, Die Zauberflöte, Ariadne auf Naxos), the Berlin Staatsoper (Orfeo), the Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie (Orfeo, Pelléas et Mélisande, Cosìi fan tutte), the Theater an der Wien (Orfeo), the Metropolitan Opera (Romeo et Juliette), the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (La cenerentola), the Salzburg Festival and the Glyndebourne Festival (Così fan tutte). Equally renowned as a recitalist and concert singer, Stéphane Degout made his New York recital debut at Lincoln Center in 2004. In upcoming seasons, he will give recitals in Brussels, London and Amsterdam. He will return to the Metropolitan Opera (Pelléas et Mélisande conducted by Simon Rattle) and make his debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago (Die Zauberflöte). He has recorded Werther and Così fan tutte along with Pelléas et Mélisande in DVD format for Virgin Classics. He has recorded La bohème for Deutsche Grammophon.
