Martin Snell was born in New Zealand and studied with Patrick McGuigan at Manchester. He developed first stage experience at international Opera studio Zurich. He has performed amongst others at Grand Théâtre de Genève, Theater St. Gallen under Jiři Kout, Theater Luzern under John Axelrod, Oper Graz, Berliner Staatsoper with Daniel Barenboim,at Baden-Baden with Thomas Hengelbrock), at Aix-en-Provence with Daniel Harding, at Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Athens, at New Zealand, Singapore and at Bayreuther Festspiele, where he at last sang Hermann Ortel (Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). His repertoire reaches from Monteverdi to Wagner. His future plans include again Hermann Ortel at Bayreuth, Mahler’s Symphony Nr.8 with the Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy, Reimar der Zweter (Tannhäuser) with Marek Janowski at Berlin as well as Verdis Requiem at Freiburg.
