Butter, MarkusThe most important roles in 2008/09 included for Markus Butter the new production of Henzes L’Upupa at Semperoper Dresden, Mendelssohn-Bartholdys Elias in Salzburg, Brittens War Requiem in Porto as well as the debuts at Salle Pleyel Paris under Paavo Järvi and with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Semperoper, where he is member of the ensemble, will get awarded in fall 2009 with the Christel-Goltz-Preis. 2009/10 he will appear in two new producitons there :as Archediakon (Schmidt: Notre Dame) and Valentin (Gounod: Faust) as well as his debut as Papageno (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) in Tokio. Markus Butter works with conductors such as Bruno Bartoletti, Bertrand de Billy, Christoph Eschenbach, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Kirill Petrenko, Markus Stenz and Sebastian Weigle. At Theater an der Wien he sang at last Caronte (Haydn: Orlando paladino).
