After his piano - studies at Conservatorio di Lecce he started his singing studies with Ivo Vinco in Verona and Cembalo in Bologna. Vittorio Prato is Winner of the international singing-competition Mattia Battistini and won the second prize at the international Contest for sacred music in Rome.
His repertoire includes roles such as Malatesta (Donizetti: Don Pasquale), Masetto (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Gugliemo (Mozart: Cosi fan tutte), Albert (Massenet: Werther) in Jesi, the title role in Monteverdis L'Orfeo am L'Opéra de Lyon, Don Alvaro (Rossini: Il viaggo à Reims) with the Accademia Rossiniana di Pesaro, Giorgio (Rossini: La gazza ladra),Giove (Rossini: Le nozze di Teti e di Peleo) in Pesaro, Haly ( Rossini: L’italiana in Algeri) in Lucca, Pisa, Lissabon und Luxenburg, Wagner ( Gounod: Faust) under Lorin Maazel at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia Fundació de la Comunitat Valenciana in Valencia and Cantata number five from Respighis Cinque Canti All'antica, Re Enzo at Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Recently he performed inter alii Partocle (Gluck: Iphigenie en Aulide) under Riccardo Muti at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
Future plans include amongst others in spring 2010 Belcore (Donizetti: L’elisir d’amore) in Dijon. In Concerts he already has sung inter alii Bach- cantatas under Riccardo Martinini in Rome and is on tour with Handel's Ezio together with kammerorchesterbasel, which has brought him until now for example to Montpellier and Paris.
On CD the young baritone is represented for example on the Label DECCA in Handel's Israel in Egypt, on DVD he is available as Giorgio (Rossini: La gazza ladra) under Lu Jia and as Brühlmann beside Andrea Bocelli as Werther under Yves Abel (Massenet: Werther).
