The male Alto was born at Berlin. He is one of the eclectic singers of our days who connect vocal and acting aplomb. This is the fundament for his international success.
Already in 1986, when he made his debut at Vienna as Handel’s Giustino in the legendary production of Harry Kupfer at Volksoper Wien he became a darling of the public. He was the first alto ever performing in Vienna the role of Orlofsky (Strauß: Die Fledermaus). This part has brought him beside many other roles on the international stages reaching from Tokyo to New York. At the Metropolitan Opera he sang beside Orlofsky, which he performed there for many years also Oberon (Britten: A Midsummer Night`s dream). His wide repertoire reaches from baroque until contemporary music and is documented on many CDs and DVDs.
With the program Barock meets Jazz and Schubert’s Winterreise he had recently big success.
