Streit, KurtBest known throughout his career as one of the foremost Mozart singers, Kurt Streit has accumulated a wide repertoire over the years, which includes works from Monteverdi to Wagner, Handel to Janáček, Haydn, Pfitzner, Berlioz and Offenbach, while still performing the title roles in Idomeneo, Lucio Silla and La clemenza di Tito. He has performed internationally in all the important opera houses and concert halls and, since his debut in 1989 as Belmonte (Mozart: Die Entführung aus dem Serail), he has returned regularly to Theater an der Wien, most recently performing Haydn's Orlando Paladino, Florestan (Beethoven: Fidelio), Aschenbach (Britten: Death in Venice), Eisenstein (Strauß: Die Fledermaus) (among others), in addition to all his Mozart roles. Kurt Streit lives with his son in Styria.
