Director
Internationally renown director Keith Warner was born in the United Kingdom. Productions he directed include for example Wagner’s Lohengrin in Bayreuth, Der Ring des Nibelungen in Tokyo, Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci and Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana in Berlin, Puccini’s Tosca in London, Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in Bruxelles, Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten in Hamburg as well as Berlioz’ La damnation de Faust and Gounod’s Faust in Dresden. At Royal Opera House Covent Garden he was successful with RING and Berg’s Wozzeck (which got an Olivier Award in 2003). He very often works at Oper Frankfurt, where he has directed for example Britten’s Death in Venice, Rossini’s La cenerentola, Dallapiccola’s Volo di notte, Il prigioniero, Reimann’s Lear and Adèes’ The Tempest. Recently he created Verdi’s Simone Boccanegra in Strasbourg and Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in Warsaw. At Theater an der Wien he directed often since 1999, for example in 2006 Don Giovanni and in 2008 Janáček’s Katja Kabanova.
