The Rape of Lucretia
British conductress Sian Edwards studied at Royal National Center of Music and with Professor A.I. Musin at the conservatory in Leningrad. She has performed with many internationally reknown orchestras and Ensemble Modern. In 1986 she made her opera-debut with Weill’s Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny at Scottish Opera and in 1988 at Royal Opera House Covent Garden with Tippett’s The Knot Garden. From 1993 until 1995 she was musical director at English National Opera. In Glyndebourne she conducted for example Verdi’s La Traviata and Turnage’s Greek at Münchner Biennale in 1988. She recently has conducted Gefors’ Clara at Opéra Comique in Paris, Tschaikowski’s Eugen Onegin in London, Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Copenhagen, Berlioz’ La Damnation de Faust in Helsinki and Britten’s Peter Grimes in Frankfurt. At Theater an der Wien she made her debut in 2007 conducting the first Austrian performance of Heggie’s Dead Man Walking 2007.
