Ashley Martin-Davis studied at Central School of Art & Design and Motley Theatre Design School. In theatre he has created Shaw’s Widowers houses, Coward’s Hay fever, Shakespeare’s The tempest (Royal Exchange), Kemp’s 5/11, Marquez’ I caught my death in Venice (Chichester Festival), Cooper’s Three women and a piano tuner (Hampstead), Tartuffe, Shakespeare’s The winter’s tale (National Theatre). In Opera his work include Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore (Santa Fe Opera), Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Opera North), Sullivan’s The gondoliers (English National Opera), Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen (Opera Amazonas, Manaus), Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana and Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci (Dallas Opera), Strauss’ Cappricio and Daphne (New York City Opera), Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor and Mozart’s Ascanio in Alba (Buxton Festival Opera). At Theater an der Wien he has created at last Haydn’s Orlando paladino in 2007.
