The Rape of Lucretia
Mezzo soprano Angelika Kirchschlager was born in Salzburg. She studied at Mozarteum and at Wiener Hochschule für Musik. Today she teaches as an extraordinary professor there. She is internationally one of the leading singers of her repertoire for example at Opera Houses such as Wiener Staatsoper, Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées as well as the Philharmonic Orchestras of Berlin, Munich und New Yorker. Liederabende and Recitals brought her all over Europe, the USA and Asia. In 2007 she became Kammersängerin of the Wiener Staatsoper and in 2009 member of honour of the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her recordings got awarded with many prizes, amongst others with several ECHO Klassik awards and a Grammy Award. At Theater an der Wien she performed for example Idamante (Mozart: Idomeneo), Liederabende and at last in 2010 in Weill’s Die sieben Todsünden und Mahagonny-Songspiel.
