Christophe Rousset

Conductor

Christophe Rousset was born in Aix-en-provence and studied in Paris with Huguette Dreyfuss and in The Hague with Bob van Asperen. He was winner of the Bruges Harpsichord Competition in 1983 and has recorded for example the works of Couperin, Rameau, d’Anglebert, Forqueray and Bach. After his time with Les Arts Florissants and Il seminario musicale he worked out a leading position as a conductor from 1991 on as well as good reputation as a precise exploring conductor and teacher in European music of the 17th and 18th century. With Les Talens Lyriques his work reaches from Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater to Mozart’s Mitridate, Re di Ponto. In 2008 Castor et Pollux with him and Les Talens lyriques got released. Christophe Rousset is L’Officier des Arts et Lettres as well as Chevalier dans L’Ordre National du Merit. At Theater an der Wien he conducted at last in 2009 Handel’s Partenope.
