Les Talens Lyriques

Ensemble

Les talens lyriques Les Talens Lyriques got founded in 1991 by Christophe Rousset. The name of the ensemble is based on the passion of the conductor for the music of the 17th and 18th century. He rediscovers precisely music of this period and estabishes it.

The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Handel’s Riccardo Primo, Rinaldo, Admeto, Tamerlano, Alcina, Ariodante, Lully’s Persée, Roland, Traetta’s Antigona, Ippolito ed Aricia, Jommelli’s Armida abbandonata, Martin y Solera’s La Capricciosa Corretta to Mozart’s Mitridate, Re di Ponto. Opera productions got realizeid with directors such as Jean-Marie Villégier, Philippe Lénaël, Jean-Claude Berutti, Pierre Audi, Jean-Pierre Vincent, Marco Arturo Marelli, Éric Vigner, Jérôme Deschamps, Marcial di Fonzo Bo, Francisco Negrin and Irina Brook, to name a few.
Les Talens Lyriques get supported by the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication and the city of Paris and the Annenberg Foundation. The ensemble is member of FEVIS und PROFEVIS (Fédération et Syndicat des Ensembles Vocaux et instrumentaux Spécialisés).
Beside their work in Opera the ensemble performs a wide repertoire of concert works such as wie Motets (Dumont, Daniélis), Madrigals, Cantates (Clérambault, Brossard, Montéclair) and music from the French Court (Dumont, Lambert, de La Barre).
When discovering this repertoire Christophe Rousset prefers working with singers and musicians of the so called „new baroque generation”. Les Talens Lyriques are documented on CD for DECCA (Universal Music), Naïve, Ambroisie and Virgin Classics. In 1994 they recorded the Soundtrack for the movie Farinelli – Il Castrato, which got awarded with a Classical Music Victory. In 2008 a DVD of Castor et Pollux with Les Talens lyriques and Christophe Rousset got released. Les Talens Lyriques performed at last Handel’s Partenope at Theater an der Wien auf.
