Ingela Bohlin


Born in Lund, Sweden, Ingela Bohlin graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2002 and in the same year made her Chicago Opera Theater debut singing Fiordiligi in a new production of Così fan Tutte conducted by Jane Glover. Another important early production was a touring project Wolf, a staging of Mozart excerpts by choreographer Alain Platel, in Duisburg, Berlin, Gent, Brussels and Amsterdam culminating in performances at Opéra de Paris.
Current and future operatic highlights include Ilia Idomeneo for La Monnaie in Brussels; Drusilla Poppea at the Theater an der Wien; the title role Poppea for the Drottningholms Slottsteater and Anne Truelove The Rake’s Progress for Gothenburg Opera. Future concert plans include Brahms Requiem with the Residentie Orchestra and Klaus Peter Flor.
Recent opera appearances have included Angelica, Handel Orlando with Al Ayre Espagnol; Susanna Figaro at La Monnaie, Brussels; Handel Il Trionfo de Il Tempo and Aspasia Tamerlano with Paul McCreesh at the Teatro Real, Madrid; Despina Così fan Tutte for Netherlands Opera; Morgana Alcina at Drottningholm and Netherlands Opera in a new production by Pierre Audi conducted by Christophe Rousset; Iole Hercules for Paris Opera, Wiener Festwochen, Netherlands Opera and in New York under William Christie; Erste Dame Die Zauberflöte for Paris Opera with Marc Minkowski; the world premiere of Hosokawa’s Hanjo at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and for La Monnaie Brussels conducted by Kazushi Ono; Pamina Die Zauberflöte with Jean-Christophe Spinosi; Ismene in Mitridate at the Salzburg Festival with Mark Minkowski and the soprano arias in a staged production of Bach St Matthew Passion for the Glyndebourne Festival.
Ingela Bohlin is an established concert singer and has worked extensively throughout Sweden including appearances with Norrköping, Swedish Radio and Malmö Symphony Orchestras. She has also appeared with Les Talens Lyriques conducted by Christophe Rousset; has sung Mozart’s orchestration of Messiah at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival with Ivor Bolton; Mozart Mass in C Minor with the Mozarteum Orchestra at the Salzburg Summer Festival with Jannick Nezet-Seguin; Mozart Requiem with the Swedish Radio Orchestra and Manfred Honneck; Bach Christmas Oratorio with Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra under Paul McCreesh and took part in a concert tour and recording of Bruckner Mass in F with the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées and Philippe Herreweghe.
At Theater an der Wien she sang at last in 2010 Drusilla (Monteverdi: L’incoronazione di Poppea).
