Born in Pescara, Milena Storti completed her musical education at the conservatoire of her hometown with Nicoletta Panni. She attended master-classes with Erik Werba and Claudio Desderi and in 1996 she won the “Inner Wheel Best Lyric Voice” prize at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
Her operatic debut was in 1992 with Rossini’s Cenerentola at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, followed by Le Comte Ory with Bruno Campanella at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Lakmé (Mistress Bentson) with Karl Martin at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo; Falstaff (Meg) with Claudio Desderi at the Aldebourgh Festival and with Maurizio Barbacini in Turin; Rigoletto (Maddalena) with Marco Armilliato in Turin; Luisa Miller (Federica) with Donato Renzetti in Palermo and Gianni Schicchi (Zita) with Antonino Fogliani in Jesi.
Milena Storti is particularly interested in 20th century and contemporary repertoire: she sang Un Segreto d’Importanza by Rendine with Claudio Desderi in Chieti, The Rake’s Progress (Mother Goose) by Stravinsky with Bruno Campanella in Turin, Die Teufel von Loudun by Penderecki with Yoram David in Turin, Lavinia Fuggita by D’Amico with Aldo Sisillo in Modena and Assassinio nella Cattedrale by Pizzetti with Bruno Bartoletti in Turin.
An important part of her career is devoted to 17th and 18th century repertoire. Notable productions include: Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (Ottone) with Christophe Rousset at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla; Salieri’s La Passione di Gesù Cristo (Giovanni) with Ottavio Dantone at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Garcia’s Il Califfo di Bagdad with Christophe Rousset in Granada, Madrid and Barcelona; Vivaldi’s Motezuma (Mitrena) with Alan Curtis in Modena; Cavalli’s Rosinda (Cillena) with Mike Fentross at the Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, at the Vantaan Barokki in Finland and at the Bayreuther Barock Festspiele; Cavalli’s La virtù de’ strali d’amore (Ninfa, Maga and Neriade) with Fabio Biondi at the Teatro Malibran in Venice.
Among her recent engagements: Handel’s Alcina (Bradamante) at the Kiel Opera; Handel’s Il Trionfo del tempo e della verità (Disinganno) in Bolzano with Bozen Baroque Orchestra and Claudio Astronio; Handel’s Agrippina (Narciso e Giunone) at the Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and at the Opera Rara Festival in Krakow with Europa Galante and Fabio Biondi; Cavalli’s Calisto (Linfea) at the Theatre des Champs Elysées in Paris with Les Talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset; Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in Vicenza and Verona; a revival of Agrippina at the Festival Via Stellae in Santiago de Compostela; recording and concert performance of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle under Tito Ceccherini. He has just gained great success with Le Cinesi by Gluck at the Musikfestspiele in Potsdam and in Winterthur with L’arte del Mondo and Werner Ehrardt.
Her future projects include: recording and European concert tour of Handel’s Giulio Cesare with Il Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis; Così fan tutte (Despina) in Dijon under the baton of Christophe Rousset.
