Soprano Cristina Gallardo-Domâs was born in Santiago, Chile, and studied at Juilliard School New York. She made her debut in Europe as Puccini’s Suor Angelica in 1993. Since then she performs on the important Opera houses of the world the Italian Repertoire including Buenos Aires, at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, at Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, Metropolitan Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Wiener Staatsoper and at Salzburger Festspiele. For her interpretation of Madama Butterfly she received the Laurence Olivier Award 2004. Conductors and directors she has worked with include Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, George Prêtre, Willy Decker and Robert Carsen, to name a few. She has recorded numerous CDs including Verdi’s Aida with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Antonio Pappano. Recently she sings de Falla’s La vida breve in Valencia and La Bohéme in New York.
