German soprano Anne Schwanewilms broad repertoire includes, for example, Mozart's Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Desdemona (Verdi: Otello), Schumann's Genoveva, Grete (Schreker: Der ferne Klang), von Weber's Euryanthe, Wagner's Elsa (Lohengrin) and Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Strauss' Arabella, Feldmarschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) and Ariadne auf Naxos, as well as Madame Lidoine (Poulenc: Dialogues des Carmélites). She has performed with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, James Levine, Kurt Masur and Simon Rattle, with orchestras such as Berliner Philharmoniker and Concertgebouworkest. As a lied singer she performs internationally with accompanists such as Roger Vignoles and Malcolm Martineau. Her programmes usually include works by Strauss, Wolf, Mahler and the French repertoire. Many recordings document her work. Awards include, amongst others, Singer of the Year (Opernwelt, 2002).
