Jochen Schmeckenbecher

Marquis de La Force

Jochen Schmeckenbecher sings internationally in opera and concert for example at Berlin, Dresden, Paris, Mailand, Torino, at Salzburger Festspiele, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Vienna. After his successful role debut as Berg’s Wozzeck in 2004 in Dortmund he performed this role for example in Barcelona, Madrid and Hamburg. In 2007/08 he made his role debut as Lindorf, Coppélius, Dapertutto and Dr. Miracle (Offenbach: Les contes d’Hoffmann) at Volksoper Wien and as Alberich (Wagner: Das Rheingold) in Essen. He sang in 2009/10 the opening of the season in Graz the role of Beckmesser (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and made his debut at Metropolitan Opera in february 2010 as Musiklehrer (Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos), a role he sang at last at Theater an der Wien in 2010.
plans include for example Alberich (New production Der Ring des Nibelungen), Amfortas (Parsifal) at Frankfurt as well as Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde) in Lyon and Wozzeck in Marseille.
