American Soprano Deboprah Polaski became at least an internationally sought after singer after her debut at Bayreuther Festspielen in 1988 as Brünnhilde (direction: Harry Kupfer) under Daniel Barenboim in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. She is ment to be one of the most important dramatic sopranos of our days. The role of Brünnhilde she has performed more times at Bayreuth than any other singer. Her Wagner – roles include also Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Venus (Tannhäuser) Ortrud (Lohengrin), Kundry (Parsifal) and especially Isolde (Tristan und Isolde). Until now she has performed mire than 180 times the role of Strauss’ Elektra internationally and recorded this role with Barenboim and Bychkov. Her wide repertoire includes also roles such as Marie (Berg: Wozzeck), Kostelnicka (Janacek: Jenůfa), Kassandra and Dido (Berlioz: Les Troyens), Leonore (Beethoven: Fidelio), Färberin (Die Frau ohne Schatten) and Ariadne auf Naxos, Dukas’ Ariane et Barbe-Bleue and Schönberg’s Erwartung. She has worked with Barenboim, Solti, Thielemann, Maazel, Abbado, Young, Mehta, Muti, Levine, Bychkov, de Billy, Petrenko, Rattle, Ozawa, Prêtre and many more worldwide from New York to Salzburg, Paris to Milano until Sydney, to name a few. Her voice is documented on numerous CDs- and DVDs. Since 2003 she is österreichische Kammersängerin.
