Olaf Winter
Light design
During studying musicology, journalism and German language and literature studies Olaf Winter created his first own lighting devices at Wolfgang-Borchert-Theater at Münster. Furthermore he studied from 1986 to 1988 Lighting Design at the Studio and Forum of Stage Design at New York. From 1989 on he was light designer of William Forsythe and Ballett Frankfurt and created the lighting inter alia for productions of Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, Pocket Opera Company at Nürnberg as well as Ensemble Modern (Frank Zappas Yellow Shark). Since 1994 he works regularly for Oper Frankfurt, where he is technical director since 2001. He works as a light designer regularly at L’Opéra de la Bastille, Salzburger Festspiele and Bayerische Staatsoper to name a few. At Theater an der Wien he created at last the light for Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito and Handel’s Giulio Cesare.
