Premiere of "Der Prozess“ in the Kammeroper

Josef K. wakes up one morning in his flat and is suddenly arrested without explanation. What follows is a nightmarish trial, the meaning of which remains as unclear to him as the charges against him. Franz Kafka's famous novel ‘Der Prozess’ immerses the reader in a Kafkaesque world of bureaucratic arbitrariness, powerlessness and abstract guilt. This atmosphere was impressively brought to life at the premiere of Der Prozess by Gottfried von Einem at the Kammeroper on 5 December.

The production by artistic director Stefan Herheim transported the audience into a surreal, dystopian world. In collaboration with the Neue Oper Wien, the Klangforum Wien PPCM Academy performed under the musical direction of Walter Kobéra. Robert Murray as Josef K., Anne-Fleur Werner, Alexander Grassauer, Timothy Connor, Leo Mignonneau, Valentino Blasina, Lukas Karzel, Philipp Schöllhorn and Fabian Tobias Huster characterised the evening with their outstanding performances.

The production cooperated with the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna (Leo Mignonneau, Lukas Karzel) and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Valentino Blasina) as part of the CAMPUS programme.

The premiere was a complete success and the performers were celebrated with great applause. After the premiere, the artists and audience celebrated the success of an unforgettable evening together. Bravi tutti!
