First scene photos from "Isacco"
The first rehearsal photos of Isacco have been taken and we can already look forward to the premiere in a few days.
Like many composers of the Viennese Classical period, Marianna Martines is unjustly overshadowed by W. A. Mozart. Her mentors included none other than Joseph Haydn and Pietro Metastasio, on whose libretto her oratorio Isacco figura del redentore from 1782 is based. The plot is based on the First Book of Moses: an angel orders Abraham to kill his son Isaac in the name of God. The father obediently drags his son to an altar of sacrifice - but just as he is about to strike the fatal blow, God intervenes and dispenses with the human sacrifice.
Dennis Orellana and Christian Senn form the ensemble of singers with Sophie Gordeladze, Anle Gou and Andjela Spaic, which Chiara Cattani leads from the fortepiano together with the Bach Consort Wien. Stage Director Eva-Maria Höckmayr makes her Viennese debut with this production.
Isacco is part of the CAMPUS cooperation with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Andjela Spaic, role: Angelo).
The first rehearsal impressions promise a captivating evening of music theatre, the premiere is on 5 June at 7 pm at the Kammeroper. Further information and tickets for the production can be found here.
