Can you go to the Theater an der Wien without a ticket? Of course you can! Because the theatre by Naschmarkt will regularly be opening its doors on Saturdays during the 26/27 season for coffee, cake and a wide-ranging programme for young & all. So come along with your children, nieces and nephews or with friends who fancy sampling the theatrical atmosphere in a relaxed setting. On these Saturdays, the Theater an der Wien turns into an unconventional meeting place for interesting encounters and creative discoveries.

Relax and read the daily paper over coffee and cake, raise a toast with fruit juice or Prosecco on our sun terrace or take part in our programme for adults. Every Saturday has something different to offer, but what they all have in common is the guarantee of a great time discovering musical theatre. The SINGALONG for adults and seniors and the dance workshop with Baroque melodies give you the chance to listen, be amazed and get moving yourself.

Make use of the opportunity to meet our performers and production teams in person at one of our open rehearsals of the current productions and gain fascinating insights into the work of a theatre. At our SNEAK PEEKS you can take a look into the historic auditorium and have the chance to chat to staff. If you wish to delve deeper, we also offer GUIDED THEATRE TOURS.

But there’s also plenty to discover for children, too: they can browse to their heart’s content in the reading corner, while the crafts corner invites them to design their own creations. We have a great variety of workshops for dancing, singing or bringing the big opera busy book to life with our young visitors. Inspired by the music of our family operas, children can become little artists in the RHYTHM & PAINT workshop, producing their own artworks with coloured crayons and boundless imagination.

Musical theatre is extremely varied, and so are our Saturdays at the theatre! Visit our website to stay up to date or simply drop in whenever you’re passing. No ticket is needed for these “Samstag im Theater” Saturdays; admission to the Theater an der Wien is free. Tickets for the workshops are available online or at the box office.

OPERA YOGA

Yoga in the mountains, hot yoga and yoga on the beach have been popular for many years. But why not use the stage of the 225-year-old Theater an der Wien as a source of inspiration and strength and move the yoga session in there? Unconventional? Maybe. A memorable experience? Definitely. Our yoga concerts are for all those who are inquisitive and would like to move and experience classical music differently for once. Whether you’re a dedicated yogi or yogini or an absolute beginner – everyone is welcome who simply wants to try something new. A space for mindfulness, perception, attentiveness, deep breathing. Om …

What exactly does the props department do? And what happens in make-up before and during a performance? On our Saturdays at the theatre you can always meet members of staff from the various departments who give you fascinating insights into the work they do and answer any questions you may have.
