Operetta, musical, revue - before the Theater an der Wien became the city's third opera house in 2006, it was mainly light entertainment and showbiz that delighted audiences. Classics such as Die Fledermaus, Die lustige Witwe, star vehicles such as Die Gräfin vom Naschmarkt or completely unheard-of musical hits such as Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Elisabeth or Mozart! In addition to the works themselves, there were always very special performers who characterised the performances and often had and still have a huge fan base. Some came to us as already celebrated stars, others made the leap into a global career at a premiere. Some remained loyal to Vienna, others travelled to stages all over the world. But they all provided unforgettable moments at the Theater an der Wien. In our new Da Capo series, we want to bring these personalities back to our theatre for an evening, indulge in nostalgia, relive great moments - and perhaps even learn one or two exciting new things.
