Yesterday, Unsuk Chin's opera Alice in Wonderland, which premiered in 2007, had its Austrian premiere at the MusikTheater an der Wien. 

Director Elisabeth Stöppler, who was staging a production at the MusikTheater an der Wien for the first time, takes up the dream logic of the work and tells the story of Alice in Wonderland as a relentless encounter of a person with themselves.

The title role is played by Icelandic soprano Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir, who has already made a name for herself internationally with her contemporary repertoire. She is joined by Helena Rasker, Juliana Zara, Hailey Clark, Ben McAteer, Marcel Beekman, Andrew Watts, Henry Nell and Levente Pall. The audience celebrated the singers and leading team with enthusiastic applause.

Alice in Wonderland can be seen at the MusikTheater an de Wien until 26 November.
