Great excitement at the Theater an der Wien: Plácido Domingo attended a preview performance of Pablo Luna Benamor's zarzuela. Following the orchestra's final rehearsal, he personally congratulated the ensemble on their successful musical work and was visibly impressed by the interpretation.

The visit by the global star was a special moment for the ensemble, as well as for musical director José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, director Christof Loy and all the theatre staff, who received him with great joy and gratitude.

Plácido Domingo has a very personal connection to this work and to zarzuela in general. He has often sung the famous aria "País del Sol" himself throughout his career, and he also has close family ties to this genre, as his parents were zarzuela singers.
