First scene photos of "Stiffelio"
Giuseppe Verdi’s rarely performed opera Stiffelio will be presented at the Theater an der Wien from 13 May at 7 p.m. The work tells the story of the Protestant minister Stiffelio, who returns from a journey to discover that his wife Lina has been unfaithful to him with the nobleman Raffaele. Torn between personal hurt and religious duty, he finds himself in a moral conflict that drives the drama forward.
The production is directed by Vasily Barkhatov, with Jérémie Rhorer conducting. The leading roles are performed by Luciano Ganci, Joyce El‑Khoury, and Luigi Morassi.
