Girls, girls, girls: The womaniser Don Giovanni is in Seville, and plans to seduce the beautiful Donna Anna. She calls her father, the Commendatore, to help her, but Don Giovanni promptly murders him, and escapes incognito. He meets the already well-known Donna Elvira, whom he once jilted at the altar... The list of Don Giovanni’s conquests is long, as his servant Leporello tells Donna Elvira. The beautiful Zerlina also attracts Don Giovanni’s attention. That he can get away with all this is down to Leporello, his faithful servant who even switches identities with him if necessary. They meet in the graveyard and suddenly the voice of the statue of the murdered Commendatore is heard. Don Giovanni mockingly invites the statue to dinner, and the statue accepts... Don Giovanni was the second collaboration between Mozart and the  librettist whose words complemented his music so well, Lorenzo da Ponte. The work was commissioned by Count Nostitz National Theatre in Prague. The premiere in 1787 was greeted with great acclaim. The psychology of the libretto is perfectly interpreted by Mozart’s music.
