JEAN KALMAN (lighting) worked from 1979 with many notable Theater and Opera directors, including Peter Brook, Robert Carsen, Deborah Warner, Rufus Norris and Pierre Audi. Among the many operas which he contributed to were: Die Zauberflöte, Thebans, The Death of Klinghoffer, Yevgeny Onegin and Death in Venice (English National Opera), Attila, Yevgeny Onegin and Macbeth (Metropolitan Opera, New York), Billy Budd (Madrid), The Tempest (Salzburg Festival), Lohengrin, The Tempest, Castor et Pollux, Saint François d'Assise, Marco Polo, La Juive, Dido and Aeneas , Dionysus, Iphigénie en Aulide / Iphigénie en Tauride, Parsifal, Guillaume Tell, Death in Venice, The Magic Flute and Gurre- Lieder (Netherlands Opera), Le Testament de Marie, The Tales of Hoffmann and Tosca (Paris), Dialogues des Carmelites (Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Oviedo, Antwerp, Nice and Japan). Some of Kalman's honors include Olivier Awards (Best Lighting Design), Richard III and White Chameleon and an Evening Standard Award (Best Lighting) for Festen.
