Vienna premiere: "Der goldene Drache"

On 14 February, Peter Eötvös' Der goldene Drache celebrated its Vienna premiere at the Kammeroper in the presence of the composer. Jan Eßinger's production of the sweet-and-sour material based on the play of the same name by Roland Schummelpfennig is touching and exciting and involves not only the stage but the entire space of the Kammeroper in the action.

The singers Camilla Saba Davies, Christa Ratzenböck, Hans-Jürgen Lazar, Felix Heuser and Peter Schöne took turns slipping into all 17 roles in the piece. They were accompanied by the Klangforum Wien PPCM Academy under the proven musical direction of Walter Kobéra. Much cheering and applause for the entire ensemble!

The production is part of our CAMPUS cooperation with students of the Kunstuniversität Graz and the Theaterakademie August Everding Munich. The composer Peter Eötvös, who was present, personally congratulated the participating students Camilla Saba Davies and Felix Heuser as well as the members of the Klangforum Wien PPCM Academy on their success. Der goldene Drache can be seen at the Kammeroper until 3 March.
