Eleven-year-old Vincent is an expert when it comes to surviving in the wilderness. But everyday school life is difficult for him because his classmates make fun of him. Luckily, he has his imaginary and extremely witty friends – a squirrel, a beetle, a foal and a worm – who always help him out with tips and tricks. One particular ray of light is his new classmate, “Jacket”, whom Vincent gradually befriends and who helps him find the courage to talk about his fears. A touching and humorous story based on Enne Koens’ multi-award-winning book, Ich bin Vincent und ich habe keine Angst (I am Vincent and I am not Afraid). The director is none other than Johannes Schmid, known for his film adaptations of ChristineNöstlinger’s Geschichten vom Franz books.
Would you like to meet Vincent and his animal friends before the premiere? Well, you can – at our matinee for young & all! Come along and meet the singers. You can also join in the singing when the conductor rehearses a song from the opera with the audience.

Frau Holle has a job with a lot of responsibility: she looks after the seasons of the year and the climate. And nowadays that’s not so easy. Despite her best efforts everyone complains about the weather – whether it’s raining, cold or sunny. No one is ever satisfied! Time for a break, thinks Frau Holle, and she passes the important task of making the weather to Gold-Andy and Pitch-Andy. Fingers crossed that all goes well! A miniature opera for young & all aged 6 and above that sensitively and playfully approaches the subject of climate change and whisks us off on a journey through all kinds of musical weather with imaginative sounds.

Calling all theatre explorers! You now have the rare opportunity to explore the Theater an der Wien with singers and musicians. We travel in time and space through the over 200-year history of the theatre and meet artists from the past and present who whisper the odd snippet of inside information to us. But the audience is also expected to join in when they’re asked to take on intriguing and amusing “theatre challenges”. A very special experience for young & all aged 6 and above, for theatrical novices and opera veterans alike.

Workshops for families & friends
The Theater an der Wien as a public space for everyone! Once a month we will now be opening our theatre on Saturdays as a place to meet for coffee, cake and culture. Come and visit us with family and friends for a coffee on Saturdays and enjoy our newly refurbished opera house. Make yourself comfortable in the foyer with a book or unwind on our warm sun terrace. Make use of the new foyer and the terrace for a break. We look forward to welcoming you and having an interesting chat.
No ticket is needed for these “Samstag im Theater” Saturdays; admission to the Theater an der Wien is free.

TaWhoop – Sing & Swing!
Together with choreographers, singers and musical theatre educators, young & all take over the multifaceted world of opera and operetta, which is full of thrilling stories and theatrical magic. The workshops focus on different topics, but one thing is certain: TaWhoop – Sing & Swing means joining in, moving and singing. At the tops of our voices!
WOODLAND EXPEDITION – Rhythm & Paint!
Armed with a palette of bright colours we set off together on an exciting musical expedition into the woods. We listen to the rain drumming down and the wind whistling through the leaves and come across woodland creatures large and small. We explore the sounds of nature and let our imaginations run wild as we fill our sheets of paper with colourful paintings of flowers, trees and funny animals.

You think our TaWumm! workshops are only for young people? Not a bit of it! Starting this season, participatory workshops are also being organised for adults and seniors. Together we discover the present and the past of the Theater an der Wien and follow in the footsteps of Lehár, Strauss & co.! We travel back in time through the history of opera and operetta with popular arias, well-known waltz melodies and humorous stories from the world of musical theatre. And we want to hear your questions, your own stories and your singing voice!
