CANDIDE ON TV AND RADIO
On 27 January at 7.30 pm, Ö1 will broadcast a recording of the Candide premiere from 17 January as part of the "Opernabend" series. The cast includes Matthew Newlin (Candide), Nikola Hillebrand (Cunegonde), James Newby (Maximilian), Ben McAteer (Dr Pangloss), Helene Schneiderman (Old Lady), Vincent Glander (Voltaire), Mark Milhofer (Captain, Governor and Vanderdendur), the Arnold Schoenberg Chor and the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien under the musical direction of Marin Alsop.
On 28 January, ORF 2 will be showing a documentary on Candide in "Matinee am Sonntag" at 10 am. The programme takes a look behind the scenes and provides insights into the genesis of the comic operetta.
