The Theater an der Wien has a surtitle system. Please note that the surtitles are not visible from the second row of the Parterre, from seats 1 to 6 on the sides of the 3rd tier, or from seat 1 on the right-hand side of the 2nd tier. For seats without a view of the surtitles, we offer mobile rental devices on site so that you can follow the surtitles comfortably. For further information, please contact our audience service.
The MusikTheater an der Wien opens for you one hour before the performance begins. We kindly ask you to arrive early to avoid queues. The auditorium will open 30 minutes before the performance begins so that you can take your seats.
Late admission
Out of consideration for our visitors, you must wait until the interval when attending an opera at the Theater an der Wien. Only standing room and box seats offer the option of very quiet late admission. Late admission is not possible for backstage tours. We kindly ask you to arrive on time.
There is standing room at the Theater an der Wien. These are located on the left & right side in the 3rd tier. Standing places can be booked online 1 week before the performance and at the evening box office on the day of the performance.

Disabled WC with barrier-free access available
The duration of the performance and the number of intermissions will be published on the respective production page approximately one week before the premiere or event.
Children under the age of three are not permitted to attend our performances - even if accompanied by a parent or guardian or other adult - for their own safety (due to volume, duration of performances, etc.). Depending on the type and programme of the events, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien GesmbH reserves the right to change the admission age for selected events, taking into account health criteria and the developmental phase of small children.
Every year at Christmas time, starting with the 22/23 season, music theatre for young & all will now take place on the main stage of the Theater an der Wien. These performances are explicitly recommended for children aged 6 and over. Details on the family opera at the Theater an der Wien can be found in the programme.
For safety reasons, children are not permitted to sit on laps. Theatre-goers must have their own ticket and their own seat.
The buffet at the Theater an der Wien is open for you before the performance and during the intermission in the Himmel and in the foyers in the ranks.
To avoid waiting times, you can place your order before the performance: either on the premises or in advance ( up to 3 pm on the day of the performance) via e-mail to kulturcatering.wien@don.at.
