rehearsal start for "María de Buenos Aires"
Astor Piazzolla's tango opera María de Buenos Aires has been in rehearsals at the Kammeroper since 4 January.
The ensemble folksmilch has set itself the task of overcoming all stylistic boundaries and creating an authentic and exciting new sound. The young director Juana Inés Cano Restrepo makes her debut at the Kammeroper and emancipates the character of María (sung by Luciana Mancini) as a strong fighter against experiences of violence.
Students Theresa Barborik, Anna Bauer, Achim Himmelbauer and Anna Reeves from the Performing Centre Austria are also involved as dancers as part of a campus collaboration.
An introductory matinee to the piece will take place on 4 February at 11 am. The premiere will take place on 12 February at 7 pm at the Kammeroper, further performance dates can be found here.
